Innovation & Transformation

To initiate a shift towards a sustainable and digital future, new types of innovations are required—innovations that address the so-called grand challenges, which simultaneously consider ecological and social concerns while leveraging available digital technologies. How can we innovatively navigate our path to a diverse, low-carbon, green society? What contributions can innovations and digital technologies make to this transformation, and how can they be managed?

This course examines the relationship between innovation and both digital and sustainable transformation, and how the generation of these innovations can be managed.

The course outlines the context of innovation in the 21st century, providing historical and scientific background, and presenting key approaches to innovation management. It also explores the potential and limitations of innovations as responses to issues such as environmental problems. The role of social innovations in the context of transformations will be discussed. Current scientific literature will be reviewed during the lectures.

Language of instruction in this course is English.
